Maranatha Full Gospel Church began with a small gathering of people in Dallas, Texas in the year 1975. Pastor Bethel P. Jacob has served as the senior pastor since the beginning, and has led this church from that small gathering to the present day with church branches and ministries in Frisco, Houston and in other parts of the world.
In 1979, Maranatha Full Gospel Church of Dallas was registered in the state of Texas. In the beginning years this church gathering held worship services in houses and rented facilities. In 1984, the first church building bought – the first church building to be bought and paid off among the Asian-Indian community in the United States. In 1996, we began the construction of our present facilities and completed it in 2002. This 42,000 square feet facility is our international headquarters as well as the home of our Dallas church.
The church grew with active ministry. From the very beginning, emphasis was on the preaching and teaching of the word of God, as well as worship and practical ministry. Some kind of worship service and/or ministry is occurring virtually every day of the week. The church has evolved from a strictly Asian-Indian church to now include many others whose language is predominantly Spanish and a growing youth culture whose only language is English. While these transitions have been difficult, the effort is worth it because the opportunities in regards to ministry are enormous.
Pastor Bethel P. Jacob is the man who God used to start and lead this work. Pastor Jacob along with his wife Aleyamma immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s, to the city of Dallas. Throughout the four decades of ministry, they both along with their three sons built a church ministry that has continued to function to this present day. What started as a small gathering of about 5 people has become a strong church ministry with a great world mission outreach, with many endeavors attempted and many becoming successes.
Ministry is an endeavor of God to people, which means it carries the greatest of risks, the most terrible of heartbreaks, and the most ecstatic moments of joy and celebration. That is basically the whole history of Maranatha Full Gospel Church and the ministry of Pastor Jacob. As a new generation rises, it is our prayer that God will enable them to carry on this work with the same dedication, tenacity, wisdom, endurance, and spirit of sacrifice that Pastor and Mrs. Jacob and the people who stood with them through the years exhibited.
